Stacio Orrico is back with a new album and a new single but she is making no apologies for being white.

The R&B star who has returened from three year's self-imposed exile has revealed that some black producers did want to work with her because of her colour.

"Almost all of the producers that I worked with on this album are black," the US singer revealed to The Voice.

"And a few of them even told me that they don't usually work with white artists.

"With me, I have no desire to try and pretend I'm something that I'm not.

I'm not trying to be the white novelty artist who's trying to be black.

The soultress, whose latest single is entitled I'm Not Missing You continued saying that she did not care who listened to her music.

"If my music appeals to black audiences, white audiences – all audiences – I think that's a wonderful thing.

"But I'm an Italian-American girl and I'm not trying to fabricate a life that isn't mine."

Stacio Orrico's latest album is entitled Beautiful Awakening.
