| R & B 'legend' John Legend will break new ground by allowing his fans to choose which single should be his next release.
Fans will have the choice of 'Show Me' and 'Heaven Knows' which are tracks off his forthcoming album.
"At the end of the day you got to rely on your taste and your instinct the most, but it's nice to know what the fans really like," Legend told Reuters.
Legend and his record company will team up with a multimedia company which will wirelessly stream excerpts of the song to people's mobile phones.
The move is the latest attempt of record companies to find new and interesting ways of keeping fans abreast of their star's latest offerings.
The experiment will run until October 12 with the album set to hit the shops and internet outlets two weeks later.
Legend, who landed three Grammys last year for his critically acclaimed offering "Get Lifted" debut album, said he is fascinated as much by the delievery and marketing of music than actually performing.
"I guess it's my background in business," he said. "I've looked at myself as the CEO of John Legend Inc. No one cares as much as I do about my project."
